“With a Buzz in Our Ears, We Play Endlessly” - Sigur Ros
Sigur Ros (Victory Rose), an Icelandic band with a cunning skill for harmony and inspiring melody, really strikes hot with their latest release “Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust” (With a Buzz in Our Ears, We Play Endlessly). Most distinctly in this al... |

Frightened Rabbit: The Midnight Organ Fight (Album Review)
Something new to check out. Frightened Rabbit has a sound very similar to Counting Crows, even vocally, except they have a bit more distorted edginess to them. While the Counting Crows are musically sucking their thumbs, Frightened Rabbit is out kicking in doors, breaking and entering.
But they have a soft side. Try “Poke,” a gentle acoustic ditty that only breaks your heart the more when you listen to the lyrics, and I mean really listen. It’s like David Gray’s therapy sessions set to music. It’s got a real “Sell Sell Sell” feel to it, lyrically and with the use of electric... |

Peter Bjorn & John : Living Thing
Living Thing was released on 3/31/09 by the Swedish trio. There was always going to be chatter as to how Peter Bjorn and John would follow up their album Writer's Block, a true pop phenomenon. Would they try to replicate their earlier success? Or g... |

A follow-up to Green Day’s Grammy-winning, multi-platinum American Idiot (2004), 21st Century Breakdown is yet another grandiose concept album that infuses the trio’s pop-punk sensibilities with classic rock influence and a heavy dose of power balladry. If you liked the politically minded American Idiot, you'll be delighted to know that this spiritual sequel is more of the same. Arguably, it's even better.
A story in three acts, 21st Century Breakdown revolves ar... |

Big Whiskey And The Groogrux King by: Dave Matthews Band
The album begins with subtle horns and drums and transitions into a tight, up tempo baseline with the song Shake Me Like A Monkey. This track is heavy with electric guitar presence and soulful at the same time- channeling a bayou twang. The opener sets the tone for the album and leaves the listener tapping their foot in anticipation of the rest of the album. Funny The Way It Is is track 2, channeling more elecric guitar and Boyd’s violin; the chorus is t... |

MUSE: The Resistance
Highly anticipated release, since there live HAARP album and studio album Black Holes and Revelations. To give you a quick description if you’re not familiar, they sound like Pink Floyd + Queen + Van Halen. But they rock a billion times harder. The first single “The Uprising” should be out in weeks, and their website recently released a track entitled, “The United States of Eurasia” which has a very Middle Eastern vibe. It’s like “We are the Champions” and th... |

Album: John Mayer: Battle Studies
This is a solid effort by Mayer, but not his best. “Continuum” had a lot going for it and “Battle Studies” is an attempt to capture that raw intensity and heart, but I don’t think it hits home as hard. “Heartbreak Warfare” is a great opener with a groovy pulse and reminds me of "Clarity" off "Heavier&... |
